How is the CRS score calculated?
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used by the Canadian government (IRCC) to assess and score your profile in the Express Entry pool. Your score determines whether you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Your CRS score is calculated based on 4 main factors: Core Human Capital factors (such as age, education level, official language proficiency, and Canadian work experience), Spouse or common-law partner factors, Skill transferability factors, and Additional points (such as a valid job offer, a provincial nomination, Canadian study experience, or a sibling living in Canada).
The highest possible score is 1,200 points. You can significantly boost your CRS points by improving your language test results, learning a second official language (French), gaining more work experience, or securing a provincial nomination. This free calculator is calibrated based on the latest IRCC updates for 2026.
